White water rafting the Arnold river!

For our school camp we have this thing called The William Pike challenge award! And it is super cool, it is inspired by this man called William Pike who was an out door explorer and sadly got in a bad accident which ended with him losing his leg. For WPCA we have to complete at least 5 outdoor adventures, 20 hours of community service and 20 hours of a passion project! For our first adventure we went rafting on the Arnold river!

It was super fun and we met lots of awesome new people I was in a raft with Caitlin, Pippa and Mrs. Reed and our guide called horse.
At first we had to learn how to paddle and all the safety things before we could finally get started but when we hit the water it was awesome. The rapids were HUGE and we were having so much fun. When the water was calm I let go of the rope, and untucked my feet from the special feet holes (they were for you to put your feet in so you didn’t fall out) because I didn’t think I would fall off, but unbenounced to me there were rapids right around the corner. I slipped off the edge of the boat and splashed into the icy, cold water. It was horrible, the penetrating cold water chilled me to the bone. It felt like I was underwater for hours. Finally horse latched onto my life jacket and heaved me back onto the boat. All I could hear at that point was Pippa laughing at me.
But my favourite… and least favourite part of the adventure, depending on which way you look at it. Once we reached another patch if calm-ish water, he made Pippa and I stand up on the edge of the raft and hold onto each others hands and then lean back… so we did! But as we stood up, we were approaching rocks and Horse had to turn the boat really fast or we would crash, as he turned the raft, Pippa LET GO OF ME! I fell into the water again and once more being chilled to the bone, but this time pippa pulled me back into the boat, which took AGESSSSSSS!
Shortly after that we had to get out f the river and jump in the vans to head back to the polytech. On the way exchanging jokes and drinking hot raro (which is as disgusting as it sounds).

The end!
